Opioid Recovery & Care Access (ORCA): A New Model for Post-Overdose Care

Join the SMI Student Coalition on Monday July 13th at 6:00 PM EST/ 3:00 PM PST for a presentation from Dr. Callan Fockele. This webinar examines the evolving opioid overdose crisis in King County, Washington, highlighting critical gaps in traditional systems of care for individuals experiencing homelessness. Participants will explore evidence-based approaches to post-overdose engagement, including the use of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and emerging strategies for low-barrier buprenorphine initiation, including long-acting injectable formulations. The session will also examine the Opioid Recovery & Care Access (ORCA) model as an innovative approach to integrating clinical care, outreach, and harm reduction with discussion of how similar models may be adapted in other communities.
